Liner Notes

I have a list of song titles I generate from my Apple Music library on my computer. I use them as songwriting title prompts. This was one of those.

I think there's some good stuff. The transitions from the chorus back into the second verse and into the bridge need work but I also didn't spent a lot of time figuring them out, just kind of went with the flow to get something down.

Lyrics

Contemplation is my favorite disease
Constantly spinning around these thoughts that never leave
You would think by now I’d have more of this figured out
But I’m just growing tired with each passing year

Right now I’m just trying to keep myself above the line

So tell me what it means that I must remind myself
That I should be growing wise with all this passing time
Growing older and ever more concerned as it seems
That caring less is a sign of growing wise

The deeper we go the more we tend to dwell
On the things of this world we can not sell
The closer we come to our deeper truer selves
The more the things that don’t matter finally fade

And right now I’m just trying to make sure I understand myself

So tell me what it means that I must remind myself
That I should be growing wise with all this passing time
Growing older and ever more concerned as it seems
That caring less is a sign of growing wise

Now I’m growing old
And passing all this on
To everyone I know
To the ones I love the most

So tell me what it means that I must remind myself
That I should be growing wise with all this passing time
Growing older and ever more concerned as it seems
That caring less is a sign of growing wise

Wow great first line. It really invites you in to - as it suggests - a pretty contemplative song. The sustain in the chords really helps tie things together nicely.
