CRUTCH

by @nationalcat

Liner Notes

Usually like a little ukulele action to get into the swing of things!

Lyrics

I can do this, write a song
Though I don't feel like how I used to
When I wrote those words of longing
No I don't feel quite how I used to
You were just a little crutch
A support to cling to
Now what I have to say it might not be much
I might be crushed with no support to cling to

My little longing, my little crutch
You were just a construct I created
And the right song, sung the right way
Would change everything, you'd believe in me
Somebody believe in me

All these years reaching out never learing
All these years snuffing out the doubt now burning

I can do this, write a song
Without the yearning
My little crutch, a little crushed
I'll write you out a final bow
And then I'll find the words somehow

This is beautiful. Love those soaring high notes - they really capture the feeling of hanging in midair, not sure if you're going to fall.

Whew, even if I don't know what the crutch is I relate to the fear of having your relationship to songwriting change. Love the pace of the form here, when the ukulele changes its pattern it hits reaal nice

This is very pretty! I am delighted with your vocals and the echos! "My little crutch" is a great hook! The melody is so sweet! I really enjoyed my listen!!
