Lyrics

Stepping through the shadow
Our open eyes are clear
All they drink is dark
Don’t fear

Moving through the shadow
There is no sound
All our hearts are thumping, hoping
We won’t be found

What’s the sound of an empire falling?
Like a southbound plane?
Like an orphan crying?
Like a heart that breaks?

Stepping through the fire
Feet charred to black
Burning all the bridges
No way back

You can float above it
If you can pay
No one floats forever
They’ll see one day

What’s the sound of an empire burning,
If you will not hear?
CEO’s hold their ears firmly closed
to the cannons of the mutineers
What’s the sound of a system failing?
Hatred burning high.
Racial slurs hung on every word.
“Blame DEI.”

[rad unapologetic improvising]

No one floats forever
No one floats forever
No one floats forever
They'll see

Love the riff of the verse section - the way you change (pizzicato) chords on the 4th beat helps give it propulsion, and the whole vibe evokes the anxiety of walking in a shadowy alleyway at night or something. Also really enjoyed the instrumental bit around the 3:00 mark and beyond.

Really enjoyed the guitar right off... Then those sweet vocals and pure melody. Nice leadwork too!! Kinda spanish....I really liked it!! This song is a true gem. No One Floats Forever!!!

The vocal line really fits the music bed nicely... I really dig the repeated lyrical hook at the end of the song... truly no one floats forever!

Yeah. Very sad state we are in. Let’s fight for the things we can.

HEYYYY!!!!!
So, I'm absolutely positive I'll be writing a few protest songs. My brain can barely understand what's happening and it feels like we're at the "let's go to war with Canada" phase, which can't be good.

Love this arrangement and wish I didn't relate so hard to the sentiment.
