Here's how this game works. Liz @kahlo2013 picked a "famous song" as a starter (edit by @beto: Only the Good Die Young, by Billy Joel) and wrote new lyrics that could drop in to the same phrasings. To @beto , the starter song was communicated but not the new lyrics; the job now is to write new melody and harmony that should work with those same lyrics.

Then both parts were given to me (Elaine) to put together. This was very interesting. I got Liz's lyrics first, and knew exactly where in the #70s styles I wanted to land them. When I got the music demo that Beto recorded, gears turned in my head.

What was not to expectation? Aha! My first concept had the words starting on downbeats or even earlier as pickups. Beto's la-la-la placeholders started well after the downbeats, like the upbeat of 2 or later. Now, who in my chosen genre sings after the downbeat like that? Ah! I listened to Gerry Rafferty's City To City album back to back twice before getting going to put the pieces together.

Then I asked Rick @rickatfulcrum for help with instrument parts and production :-)
