Lavenders Blue
Skirmish: Wistful Yearning or Longi... (@kahlo2013)Liner Notes
Lyrics
I have to wonder why we had to part I wish I could see you again
But the memories linger the touch of your finger Is there in my mind now and then
I know it’s all over it’s all in the past I wish I could number the years
O but what would come after the sound of your laughter was something that brought me to tears
You were my everything all that I breathed I did not believe it was true
But that day in the rain when you caught the last train was the last time I laid eyes on you
I have grown older are you still unchanged Do you still sing Lavenders Blue?
I would give my last penny if there was still any Chance that I could still be with you

Beautiful, heartfelt song, singing and playing. Such a pleasure to listen to.
I like this very much. I especially like the rhyme scheme with after, laughter, penny, any, rain, train, rhyming within the line was particularly effective.
Very nice sentimental piece. Sometimes things can slip thro your fingers and you never get a second chance. well done.
That’s the perfect opening line, and then a familiar song form to live up to that opening. Good use of contrast between the first and second half of each verse to reinforce the feeling of finality.
Your song is really lovely! The melody flows so beautifully to delivery the tender words of longing. Great job getting bonus words and music in as well! What a great song.
Gorgeous music and so sweet! Feels timeless. Great skirmish!
