Liner Notes

I took the title from a Jandek track off his album Staring at the Cellophane (the track itself is a semi-instrumental with wordless vocals towards the end).

Jandek is one of my favourite outsider musicians, and this song was written in his style. As a matter of fact, most of this song's lyrics (except for the final verse) were cribbed from lyrics to some songs off his albums. In my defense, these songs only had one or two lines in them and weren't developed very much.

What's also interesting is that I'm also playing a standard-tuned guitar (I've written a few other tracks in the style of Jandek, and like his music, those tracks are dissonant and atonal).

This was recorded on my phone on the 17th of August in one take.

Lyrics

I see red lights
I see green lights
You're stuck in the sand
Go home

Michael, Michael
Where are you now?
Why don't you sell me two rhymes?
I want to tell you two times

Walk out shut the door
It’s the same it was before
You don't have to entertain me
Won't you get along?

You're a professional
Like in the books I read
Living the life you do
Remember the things you said

Coming of age, good versus evil
War, revenge and free will
Love, death, friendship
Family and identity
Sit back in your chair
Just settle down
