Taking Harder Road

Liner Notes
To get to my Friday night gig at the Pizza place, I drive south down Mission Blvd., a road as old as California. Along the way, in Hayward, I pass Harder Road. I said to my wife once, "I've never been up that way, I wonder if that's the way to Easy Street".

Lyrics
The battle that's inside my brain
Takes me to the grit and pain
Of every step, a fight to gain
Like walking uphill in pouring rain
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
I will rise up and you'll believe
When I fall I get back on my feet
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
Sweat and tears pave the way
Lessons learned, rue the day
Until the darkness fades to gray
Leaves me the space to break away
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
I will rise up and you'll believe
When I fall I get back on my feet
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
[Bridge]
No shortcuts just the grind
I must be a bit out of my mind
Facing forward, so I don't go blind
To the Harder roads I'll always find
I don't need a new place to go
No one to follow, no one to show
The only way I feel I can grow
Is taking Harder Roads I know
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
I will rise up and you'll believe
When I fall I get back on my feet
Taking Harder Road to Easy Street
