Liner Notes

I just started fingerpicking D A Bm G over and over, and after about an hour and a half, this came out pretty much like this. I had been thinking of the old brown and white house that my Mom rented where I grew up in with my 4 siblings in Napa, California. I love it when this kind of gift happens.

Lyrics

See the old house where I grew
Wood and stone on an avenue
Echoes of my childhood glee
Behind those walls or in that tree

Secret rooms I used to know
All the places we would go
Memories in the shadows hide
Each tells the story of our lives

Old house standing strong and true
Holding all that I once knew
Ghosts of the past shining through
This old house where I learned truth

Windows to the world outside
Everywhere we'd seek and hide
And in the heart of every room
Love was constantly in bloom

Staircase creaked beneath our feet
Worn down paths to where we sleep
Moments lost yet never gone
In this old house that still lives on

Old house standing strong and true
Holding all that I once knew
Ghosts of the past shining through
This old house where I learned truth

Love this little bit of nostalgia. It sure takes me back to the house I grew up in. When I see a picture of it, it looks so much smaller than it felt back then. Your vocal is perfect for this!

Nice groove.. looking back is where we can look well...

This is wonderful. It's really like a nice memory became a song.
