Liner Notes

#fuc This was steal from a favorite. If you haven't guessed the chord progression and general sentiment was lifted from the old classic "Smile"

Lyrics

You may be feeling low You don’t where to go
Nobody wants to know the mess you’re in
You’re sad but underneath no need to buy a wreath
Just smile – expose your teeth show the world a grin

You may feel down and out Your face set in a pout
But you don’t need to shout the mess you’re in
You’ll find things aren’t so bad There is fun to be had
Your smile is ironclad show the world a grin

No one will want to ask if you can wear a mask
They won’t take you to task That would be a sin
Though you feel in a trough And friends will always scoff
Smile till you cheeks fall off show the world a grin

I think I remember the source song, but regardless, this can stand as a carefully constructed pop song from a certain era. I especially like the way the varying melodic shapes give the verse a strong overall shape.

My favorite lines - "sad but underneath no need to buy a wreath"!! Excellent and clever lyric writing with great internal rhyming - like this a lot.

I really enjoyed the jaunty ukulele playing and the really pleasant melody. You did a great job capturing the uplifting vibe of "Smile" while adding your own twist. Thanks for taking the challenge!
