Lyrics

I’m tired of looking out at all the concrete and the brick The very sight of traffic is the way to make me sick
Let’s go out to the countryside and leave behind the grey Let’s run to the green and make our getaway

Run to the green out to the countryside Look out at the scenery that stretches far and wide
Of all the places in the world that you and I have seen We’re never happier than when we run to the green

The city life may have its charms but those charms don’t appeal They never make me feel the joy I need to help me heal
I can’t abide the city smells, the strain of the rat race Let’s run to the green and get to open space

We’re trapped here in a crowded hell we’re staring at the wall I need to get out to a place and answer Nature’s call
No point in trying to dull the pain with whisky and with pills Let’s run to the green and gaze upon the hills

How much green in the galaxy how much blue in the sky No need to ask my motives or to ask the question why
I wasn’t made for city life Ihope that you can see Let’s run to the green and start living wild and free

i was just having a city mouse/country mouse kind of conversation yesterday, so this resonates with me! i can imagine it as a kind of a giant Nashville country song, if you're into that.

I love that pause at the end of the 3rd verse. I am enjoying the pretty melody and smooth vocals over your energetic bright uke. I like the sentiment in your lyrics and totally agree. Nice energy in your song and it sounds very compelling - now I want to go outside!
