Liner Notes

The starting point for this piece was when I watched a video of Paul Bonney, the drummer for the Australian Pink Floyd Show (a Pink Floyd tribute band), talking about his live drum rig, and playing a demonstration in the last 40 seconds of the video.

I transcribed what he played by listening to the recording repeatedly and painstakingly putting each note into the MIDI piano roll editor in Mixcraft. The first 30 seconds of this recording is the drum beat as transcribed.

For the MIDI drum sound I used MT-PowerDrumKit. I also added some other grooves in the VST plugin.

Then I also added some virtual instruments (Pick Bass, Overdrive Guitar and Combo Organ Model F). One of the presets for the organ was called "Careful Axe", obviously a reference to the early Pink Floyd piece "Careful with That Axe, Eugene".

I used my computer keyboard as a MIDI controller.
