Lyrics

You been driving in madness
You been burning the road
You been cutting the corners
And it shows

Tell me none of my business
Tell me I need to go
Tell me you’re gonna make it
I need to know

Ohhh..

make you an offer
Make me a promise
I’ll never back away
tell me that I can stay

truth is I haven’t said it
truth is you think you know
Truth is is you're hard to be with
Truth is you’ll never see it
Truth is don’t want to break you
Make you see yourself
The way that I do

Ohhh...

make you an offer
Make me a promise
I’ll never back away
Tell me that you won’t stay this way

I’ve been meaning to tell you
what I want you to know

+1 that to me the unplugged campfire song styling may have been revived in the 90's but this one has a timeless troubadour raw exposed emotional feel.

There's an startling intimacy to this performance, just impassioned voice and guitar, that immediately grabbed me. And yeah, I do kind of hear the 90s alt feel you reference in the liner notes, but the timelessness of the guitar-and-voice approach and the universality of the emotion make it feel just as vital and contemporary today in 2024.
