Liner Notes

The sun god did not want me to post this, as I had technical issues at every turn. The tempo is still messed up somehow-- idek 😀

This song about how we sacrifice our bodies to capitalism 🌞🩸

Acoustic one-take + fake drums for now

Lyrics

The sun god, he wants one more
What’s another human sacrifice to the Lord?
The sun god, he wants one more
If we we wanna keep the world spinning, better pour

The blood
It’s all for love
We pour the blood
And call it love

I dreamt the first people-pleaser was a king
To the gods he would sacrifice anything
He spoke Nahuatl and he came from space
And he prayed the gods don’t wipe out the human race

With blood
It’s all for love
We pour the blood
And call it love

And I was taught about a great flood
God sent to wipe out the ones he didn’t want
He said, this time it’s different
This time it’s different
This time it’s different
This time it’s different

And I was taught that capital
Is the thing that makes you happy like a god with gold
Just pour out your spirit
Pour out your spirit
This time it’s different
This time it’s different

I dreamt I was climbing to the sun
For the bragging rights once I was done

The sun god, he wants one more
What’s another human sacrifice to the Lord?
The sun god, he wants one more
If we wanna keep the world spinning, better pour

The blood
It’s all for love
We pour the blood
And call it love

Saying this time it’s different
This time it’s different
This time it’s different
This time it’s different

The sun god, he wants one more
What’s another human sacrifice to the Lord?

I really like the connection between literal and metaphorical human sacrifice. The chorus is great - "We pour the blood And call it love" is a terrific line! The minor jazzy swing vibe is delightful.

Love the jazzy dance swing to this one, especially when it's juxtaposed on top of the content theme and how it adds a layer to the joke of "this time it's different".

I also liked the switch to the pour out your spirit when in the previous line you had ended with the idea of wealth (capitalism) with the use of words like capital and gold.

The "this time it's a different" gets a little frantic at the end which is just perfect with the build up of the rest of the song.

Awesome song. Sorry the production was giving you problems but I would say it was worth, cause it sounds great.
