Liner Notes

Still missing a bridge. Third song to be written for a rock opera. Third song in, I’m less embarrassed about this idea than I was.

Lyrics

Snakeskin Heart
Verse 1
I used to know a dancer named Delilah
Met her one night at the Mason Jar
She had that tattoo of a bottle of poison
And a cold, cold snakeskin heart

Prechorus
She said “Hey pretty boy, you looking at me?”
And we ended up in some redneck bar
We drove to Vegas in the middle of the night
Seats reclined, sleeping in the car

Chorus
She had a Mazda RX-7
Great White on the stereo
Cigarette burns on her leopard seats
And ooooh, she had a snakeskin heart
Her cold, cold snakeskin heart

Verse 2
A knock on the door 18 years later
A pretty young blonde standing in the sun
She said “I think you might be my father”
The DNA lab says you’re the one

Prechorus
She asked if I remembered Delilah
From a joint called The Candy Store
She had a tattoo of a poison bottle
And kinda looked like Lita Ford

Chorus
She had a Mazda RX-7
Great White on the stereo
Cigarette burns on her leopard seats
And ooooh, she had a snakeskin heart
Her cold, cold snakeskin heart

Great story here, was not expecting the twist of the daughter showing up, but well timed. Love the characters in this too, has me interested in the rest of the rock opera no doubt. Liked the detail of the different names of the bars.

Pretty damned good! Held my attention. Lita Ford. LOL

Interesting tale in this lyric with its meaningful punch in the face, so to say, to its storyteller. Dig its title and carry-through meaning in the write, how all unfolds, and its entertaining straightforwardness that brings its resolve in accordance with what it presents in totality.

Since you mentioned in your liner notes "Still missing a bridge," I couldn't resist. If you're still after one, perhaps you'll want to use mine for it:

Bridge:
Vegas
Good times
And results

Regardless, cool post, man. Thx for sharing!
