I had a moment making my bed today where my arms hurt and I was out of breath. It stings to know that long covid is still taking so much from me. Before I got sick, I was a lifelong athlete. I was getting into bodybuilding. I delighted in hitting PRs on the regular.

I am so grateful to have recovered enough from long covid that I can mostly function normally in the day to day, and I can sing & play guitar again. But it is still so discouraging to not have my strength back. Exercise has never been hard for me, but it's extremely difficult now. Luckily, I have an excuse to vent about it in song. ;) Thanks, 50/90!

Lyrics

Ain’t you used to being the strongest in the room?
Everyone knew better than to pick a fight with you
Ain’t you used to being the one who pulls the weight?
Carrying your brothers and walking through the flames

But we are not exempt from changing
Even you can’t beat the sickness

Circus strongman, give us what you can
Fade out or lean in, things will never be the same again
You will never be the same again

The illness leaves its echoes
It takes more than it gave
It forces you to let go of the role that made you safe
What are you to anyone without your muscles and your bravery?
If you can’t even run, if you can’t even save your ego

We are not exempt from changing

Circus strongman, give us what you can
Fade out or lean in, things will never be the same again
You will never be the same again

Again, again

Oh, Hercules, you are more than just a body
You will see your value for yourself
So please don’t you give up, not just yet
You still have your heart
You still have your friends

Circus strongman, give us what you can
Fade out or lean in, things will never be the same again
You will never be the same again

Wow… beautiful song made out of an unfortunate circumstance… I’m grateful that you can at least sing and play guitar again. You’ve got such an incredible voice and I’m sure it has been such a bummer feeling on the worst days.

You were really are a strong and powerful writer and performer. Seems that you have wisdom beyond your actual years of life. Suggest that you've really been through some stuff. I really hope you keep expressing your thoughts.

Wise ruminations on declining strength. it is also pertinent to the decline of any part of us, our bodies or or faculties. Things that define us can be lost, but our essence will prevail. This song is so beautifully written and sung, and as we get deeper into it, we learn to acknowledge the frailty of all things, and this will make us a gentler people.

I have had the experience of losing my health and strength twice in my life. That's why I can relate to this text very well.
Your singing touches my heart! Beautiful, clear and powerful voice!
It's a great gift to be able to express yourself through music - with you it's in good hands!
