A Love Song

Liner Notes

#baritoneuke #formerfragment
I had the first 2 lines and a chord progression.

Lyrics

That song I wrote for you in June the words were better than the tune
And though it seems something went wrong It wasn’t meant as a love song

I couldn’t seem to get it right I struggled with it day and night
I tried some words both short and lond It wasn’t meant a s a love song

I could not seem to find a key to sing my mundane melody
The chords I found did not belong It wasn’t meant a s a love song

There was no sensuality To show you what you mean to me
The lyrics froze upon my tongue It wasn’t meant as a love song

I can’t write songs to make you dance To make you think of our romance
I think you knew it all along wrong It wasn’t meant a s a love song

Very catchy number - such a nice lyric and a really lovely melody - a real period piece sound especially with that progression - very nice listen

This lyric flows so well with your melody. I love the hook in each last line. Well conceived and delivered song that was not meant to be!

Mundane melody, my hat. This is very sweet. I also appreciate the lyrics as notes on process!

This is so adorably apologetic...but it does kinda sound like a love song to me! 😜 I think I would enjoy harmonizing to this melody. 😀 I'm glad you finished it!!!

This is so sweet! I love the melody, it's really catchy, especially over those chords! Lovely work!

This is great! Simple and easy to sing a long to.

That’s a terrific implementation of the classical rhetorical device of saying something by explaining why it can’t be said. The singsong melody and the difficult scansion in the title line fit the theme perfectly.

Who hasn't struggled with songwriting? But you've made the process into a delightful sweet song!
