Liner Notes

The first hour of writing this kinda sucked. I wanted to be inspired by a preset, so I went preset surfing, more specifically through the factory presets of the Europa synthesizer in Reason, and while I did find a couple of presets worth keeping for the future, I didn't feel like writing the kind of songs those inspired that day.
So what's next? I tried my hand at designing a sound of my own in that same synth (that I'm not very familiar with, honestly), and I managed to make something I liked better, but with some uncontrollable drive and resonance and keytracking interactions I later had to tame to make other things work with it.
Then I remembered there's also a wavetable import option, and I gave that a crack with the first movie dialogue sample I could find on my computer (namely from the movie Basic), that didn't work great, but then I randomly dumped it into a graintable synth instead, and liked what I came out with from there, and that inspired the rest of the song really.
