The skirmish prompt provided the title, and it seemed to fit my plan for a declarative love song for my concept album in progress. The melody and vocal are pretty choppy — I will have to try again another day — but otherwise the song is about what I was imagining.

Lyrics

/1/
Half a life to learn a thing or two
Had to try but there’s no denying you

/chorus/
Oh you
It’s so hard to believe that it’s true
It’s so hard to believe that you do
Now there’s no way back
And I keep on falling into you

/2/
I turned it over in my mind
There’s just one answer that I find

/chorus/

/bridge/
Blinking breathing
Still believing
Dreaming all night long
Love that’s true
Can never be far wrong

/3/
I thought I learned a thing from you
But you made everything brand new

/chorus/
/chorus/

/coda/
I thought I knew

Very cool guitar accompaniment - you've got a strong groove going! Solid lyrics, too. Nicely done!

Very nice song and a lovely listen. Good take on the prompt.

Great descending bass line - a wonderful foundation for your verses. I really like the change-up in the chorus, and the bridge is a standout also. You totally captured the mystical feelings of a powerful love - and how little insecurities go hand in hand with it.

Nice skirmish. The lyrics just jump off the page, as soon as I heard your guitar line. Very relatable and emotive.

Lovely, I imagine it being a soundtrack to Love Actually or another romcom, the guitar is really pretty and the bridge "blinking, breathing, still believing" is my favourie part.

I like your use of hard to believe as part of a sentence, lovely write!

A solidly constructed pop song. Nice job for a skirmish! I like that opening guitar figure and the way it holds the song together.
