Stoop

Liner Notes

#dark #weird

Lyrically, this song's pretty self-explanatory -- a before and after story. Musically, I had been bingeing on gloomy medieval music, as you may be able to tell.

Lyrics

Sitting on the stoop
watching the soldiers march by

Sitting on the rubble
watching no one walk by

Otherworldly and sad and, I fear, all too prescient. This enveloped me in its textures, and made me despair, so very effective indeed!

You describe the effect of war in just a few words. The text sounds distant, quickly matter-of-fact or very resigned and no longer able to feel anything out of self-protection.
For me the music reflects pure despair, death, loss, powerlessness.

This piece is completely different than yesterday's and that's what I find so fascinating about your music: you manage to express the entire spectrum of humanity!

the plucking over the blowing is a disconcerting environment for the reminder of what Before and After often means
