Our Wealth is Health

Lyrics

In a world where fortunes rise and fall
Where golden idols stand so tall
There's a treasure we often overlook
Not found in any ledger book

Our wealth is health, clear and true
More precious than gold, more rare than blue
It's in each breath, each step we take
In every choice we daily make

They'll peddle cures for every ill
Build concrete jungles over hill
But can you buy new lungs so pure
When the air turns thick, and there's no cure?

Our wealth is health, clear and true
More precious than gold, more rare than blue
It's in each breath, each step we take
In every choice we daily make

The powerful laugh from high above
As we toil and sweat, and push and shove
Chasing paper promises of ease
While our bodies bend like weathered trees

Our wealth is health, clear and true
More precious than gold, more rare than blue
It's in each breath, each step we take
In every choice we daily make

The world keeps turning, always changing
But are we truly rearranging
The order of what matters most?
Our vitality from coast to coast

Our wealth is health, clear and true
More precious than gold, more rare than blue
It's in each breath, each step we take
In every choice we daily make

Just a great song sung with that golden voice...I feel transposed to the 1940s with that string section / brass section.

wow- fantastic song, great subject, and the singing and orchestration (string section!) is so well done! how did you all do this? is nelson riddle your roommate? :)

wow. this is so authentic sounding that i thought i was listening to a June Christy record from the mid 40's by accident. Excellent job all around, from lyrics to the big band sound to the note-perfect crooning.

Wealth is health, no doubt about it, @gfandme . Thing is, not many realize that, or just do so when it's too late. Good of you to pen such a thought-provoking lyric.

Dug the smooth rhyme in this write! Its unfolding warning (or rather story) is solid, too, and its musical performance? Well, that's just jazz-crazy good--nightclub professional! Fab lyric and thoroughly enjoyed it in song.
