Hi! My name's Chris (he/him), but I record as 'Kiffa' (a lifelong family nickname)-- you can call me either. I'm in my early 50s and have been FAWMing off and on since 2008.
I started writing/recording music in my bedroom as a teenager in the late '80s. Back then, I never imagined that anyone outside of my close circle of friends would ever hear any of it. Although the internet has changed that, I still approach making music in much the same way I did back then: I do it for myself, and I'm not trying to make it into anything more than a hobby. My abilities as a musician and as a producer are limited, but I try to make the most I can out of them.
My style leans towards #80s #synthpop, with a nod to the #70s #singersongwriter era. In recent years, an inability to connect instruments to my computer has led to me using online #sequencers to create my demos. This can lead to mixed results. Sometimes the outcome doesn't quite live up to my hopes; other times it greatly exceeds them, yielding recordings that I never could have hoped to make without the aid of a sequencer.
I love and appreciate comments, but I'm not interested in *critique* unless I ask for it. "Maybe change such-and-such, I would've done it differently". Well, of course you would've-- you're you, not me. But if I put a song out there, it means that, at least at the moment, I'm happy with it as it is. Criticism inhibits my desire to produce and/or participate.
I don't really set goals for FAWM-- my work pace is kind of slow, and I'm happy just to end up with something that I didn't have when I began. This goes double for 50/90, when the distractions of summer tend to keep me from wholeheartedly throwing myself into songwriting. So a much more realistic goal for me is something like 3/90 lol.
If my wishy-washiness hasn't turned you off yet, welcome, and enjoy the relatively #lofi goodness. #electronic #fawmtronica #pop #rock #newwave #onlinesequencer #boston #massachusetts #newengland

Hi Chris. 😀
Great to see you here again! And thank you for the lovely comments.
How do I do it? Being single, retired, having no distractions, and over half a century of practise I guess. 😉
